Databuoy ShotPoint®

An acoustic shooter localization solution. Shotpoint® starts with a network of acoustic sensors. Each sensor contains four microphones that detect gunfire signatures and report to a central processor hosted in the cloud.

Databuoy ShotPoint®

About Databuoy

Databuoy was founded in 2006, and the name comes from early work with the US Navy. The nautical term, Data Buoys, refers to a network of sensors moored in the ocean that support passing ships. Databuoy’s sensor networks are land-based, but similarly “moored” to persist, sense and serve passers by.

Solution: ShotPoint®

Databuoy’s Shotpoint® is an Acoustic Shooter Localization solution. Shotpoint® starts with a network of acoustic sensors. Each sensor contains four microphones that detect gunfire signatures and report to a central processor hosted in the cloud. Reports from all the detecting sensors are merged to accurately compute the source of the gunfire, notify proper authorities, and present a unified interface to operators.

The system is intended to assist local emergency responders improve response time and decision-making in an active shooter scenario. In many cases, there are surveillance cameras in place.

Shotpoint® notifications can cue those nearby cameras to observe the shooting event in real time. This means that responders can instantly observe the situation and react when a shooting occurs providing a life-saving capability.

Integration:

Shotpoint® has been integrated with VideoXpert for complete real-time shot management from within the VideoXpert unified user interface.

This provides several capabilities:

  1. The shot reporting application operates inside VideoXpert,
  2. Shot reports are annotated with imagery
  3. A camera stream from the nearest camera may be cued.

The Shotpoint® reporting application called the Know-When-It-Counts® (KWIC®) application can be launched inside the VideoXpert OpsCenter user interface when a gunshot occurs. KWIC® displays shot location coordinates and exact timing of shots onto a map or floor plan along with additional information about the health and status of the sensors.
This integration is available from Databuoy.

Solution Overview | Fiber SenSys Alarm Processor Units (APUs)

Fiber SenSys Alarm Processing Units (APUs) provide a common mechanism for interfacing with various Fiber SenSys sensors. The APUs offer standard relay outputs with many models offering a TCP/IP interface either as a standard interface or as an option. The standard outputs sent from the APU to VideoXpert, with this integration, include:

Alarm TypeDescriptionSource
TamperThe APU reported a tamper condition.APU
Communication Lost / RestoredThe software has lost/restored communication with the APU.APU
IntrusionAn intrusion has been detected on the channel.Channel
FaultsLoss or significant degradation of returning optical power was detected for the channel.Channel

Channel alarms are commonly associated with a sensor that is monitoring a specific section a fence. The APU is then the point of aggregation for the channels. The middleware integration software provides the ability to subscribe to and receive events from Fiber SenSys APUs, and inject them into a VideoXpert system. This integration was designed for 300 and 500 series APUs. A VideoXpert rule can then be created to display video from a camera that covers the corresponding channel when an intrusion alarm is received.

Magos

A fully automated system for handling, controlling monitoring and logging intrusion alerts based on inputs from a variety of sensors such as ground surveillance radars and PTZ cameras. Upon intrusion detection, MASS automatically cues a camera and displays real-time video for target verification. Sensor and camera coverage is displayed in birds-eye view pictures generated by the integral mapping engine.

Magos Area Surveillance System (MASS)

About Magos

Magos was established in 2007 to realize the vision of bringing advanced radar technology to the security and perimeter protection markets. Magos is an expert in low cost, low power, high performance radars that can be easily integrated in existing VMS, PSIM and other control software.

Magos Area Surveillance System (MASS) is a fully automated system for handling, controlling monitoring and logging intrusion alerts based on inputs from a variety of sensors such as ground surveillance radars and PTZ cameras. Upon intrusion detection, MASS automatically cues a camera and displays real-time video for target verification. Sensor and camera coverage is displayed in birds-eye view pictures generated by the integral mapping engine.

The integration of VideoXpert and Magos has two parts: middleware for passing MASS events and also an OpsCenter plugin for displaying the MASS web application within a cell. Events include an object entering or leaving radar monitored zones. MASS also has sends ONVIF Profile S commands to Pelco PTZ cameras to track an object based on the detection of an object entering a zone and then tracking that object.

Upon reception of a detection event, a rule could also be created to additionally present video from the Pelco camera. Magos can also provide a simple VideoXpert ASCII service based integration.
