Home of the first University in the Western world, the red-roofed, medieval city
of Bologna, Italy, is the focal point for the Bologna Exhibition Center, where
up to one million visitors each year attend conferences and trade shows. Second
only to Italy’s largest exhibition center located in Milan, Bologna attracts a
variety of industries from around the world.
The primary purpose for the Pelco security system is to both monitor and protect
the BEC and to control the number of visitors into the exhibition center and
pavilions. Sporting an impressive number of pavilions, the BEC has several that
are controlled by a five-piece Ethernet network, which also controls the alarm
and fire systems. Included in Phase I of the installation are 46 Spectra III
units and 26 camclosures. Phase II will begin later in 2003 and is set to
include an extensive range of Pelco products.
Pelco’s fully integrated security system was approved by Mr. Adalberto
Biasiotti, one of the premier consultants in the Italian CCTV industry. After a
thorough investigation of the various security systems available, Mr. Biasiotti
chose Pelco over the competition due to Pelco’s high-level of technology and
its ability to seamlessly integrate with their current system. We at Pelco are
honored by Mr. Biasiotti’s choice of Pelco over other competitors and are
pleased with being associated with Bologna, voted as one of nine European
Cities of Culture by the European Union’s Council of Ministries in 2000.
Congratulations are in order to Videoline, our Pelco distributor of the past
four years, for making this project such a success. Mr. Ing. Rossi, a preferred
Videoline specifier, was also instrumental in the installation
process.According to Mr. Peter Hill of Videoline, "We look forward to a long
relationship with the Bologna Exhibition Center as they continue to expand. We
also value our relationship with Pelco as they are the premier supplier of
security systems."
