JFK Library Upgrades With DX7000 DVRs
by Soma Balber, Marketing Communications Writer, sbalber@pelco.com

One of Boston’s most popular tourist attractions, the John F. Kennedy Library and Museum has hosted more than five million visitors from throughout the world. The Kennedy Library seeks to promote a greater appreciation and understanding of American politics, history and culture, and with the recent addition of Pelco DX7000 Digital Video Recorders, the JFK Library and Museum can continue to preserve an important piece of American heritage.

The John F. Kennedy Library is the Nation’s memorial to the 35th President of the United States and is a continuing expression of his ideas and leadership. The Museum at the Kennedy Library captures the powerful story of the Kennedy years, giving visitors of all ages an uplifting, "first-hand" experience of President Kennedy’s life, leadership and legacy. Designed by I.M. Pei, the museum sits on a ten-acre waterfront site on Columbia Point, offering breathtaking views of Boston’s skyline and Harbor Islands.

Currently, the security system at the JFK Library and Museum includes a Pelco CM8500 Matrix Switcher, and several Spectra and Esprit Positioning Systems.

To mark the 40th Anniversary of Jacqueline Kennedy’s emergence as America’s first lady, there will be a special exhibition featuring 80 original costumes and accessories worn by the First Lady, as well as documents, photographs, film and objects associated with Mrs. Kennedy. In order to secure the Jackie Kennedy exhibit, the library has decided to upgrade its security systems with Pelco Digital Video Recorders.

Northeast Video & Alarm (working with Pelco Representative Firm, Tom Grogan and Associates), was responsible for the upgrade installation at JFK Library and Museum. Known for its quality products and exceptional customer service, Pelco continued to be the supplier for all of the video security equipment installed at the library and museum.

Pelco DX7016-120 digital video recorders, PMC14F monitors, and 10 ICS300 high-resolution Camclosure cameras were added to the existing CM8500 Matrix Switcher/Controller.

"The cameras were mounted on track-bar lighting. We used Pelco track-light style Camclosures to blend in with the décor," stated Joseph Mazzarella, Vice-President of Marketing for Northeast Video & Alarm. "The JFK Library and Museum is temporarily installing this security system to secure the Jackie Kennedy exhibit. But the cameras and digital video recorders will be permanently installed throughout the facility after the exhibit closes. The system will provide excellent video coverage for Management and Security. They are extremely pleased with Pelco’s security systems, and it looks great," said Mazzarella.
