The San Diego Trolley System had a problem. According to the San Diego Union, the system had a blind eye on crime. With $1.1 million invested in a surveillance system that didn’t work, a new approach – and manufacturer – was needed. Looking to Pelco, the entire 46.8 mile trolley system is networked together using PelcoNet digital video transmission systems over dual T-1 based tie lines with a System 9760 Video Martix System and DX9000 Series Digital Video Recorders. And to withstand the impact of smog, dust and other airborne particulates present in any city transit system, a combination of Pressurized Esprit Positioning Systems and Spectra Dome cameras deliver reliable and high-quality video of the trains, stations, platforms and passengers.
