Gaston Memorial Hospital

When management decided to undertake a dramatic expansion program, Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia, North Carolina, knew that updating its security system would be an essential component. As a part of CaroMont Health, the hospital serves North Carolina’s southwest Piedmont area. In addition to being a comprehensive community hospital, Gaston Memorial also has a Heart Center, Center of Neurosciences, Comprehensive Cancer Center, and its Birthplace facility, which is currently under expansion. With the installation of Pelco’s System 9760 Series Video Matrix switching control system, the hospital is now running 130 cameras, including 10 Spectra III Positioning Systems. Once the new Birthplace addition opens, the hospital will install another 175 cameras to monitor the 52 birthing rooms, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), three-level parking garage, common areas, and classrooms. In addition, a total of 19 Digital Video Recorders will then continuously record and store two to three weeks of video images.
