Always Ready-Pelco and U.S. Coast Guard

For more than 200 years the United States Coast Guard has protected America’s people, property and environment. Over that history the goals have remained constant, but the size and scope of the U.S. Coast Guard’s missions have expanded to meet the nation’s needs. Now located within the Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Coast Guard plays a critical role in maintaining America’s defense. As a way to maximize resources, the U.S. Coast Guard installed a video security system to monitor its base on Yerba Buena Island. They needed a system that could reduce the number of people needed to patrol the station, freeing up guard members to perform other duties. When Eric Bledsoe, President of Electronic Innovations Inc., was approached by the U.S. Coast Guard to design the video security system, Bledsoe was confident that Pelco delivered the dependability necessary for this project. An expanded security system is a part of that remodel. Electronic Innovations upgraded their matrix switcher from a CM6700 to a CM6800 and installed additional Spectra III cameras around the base.
