Mission
Banco de Costa Rica is a key commercial lender and the most profitable of the state-owned banks, playing a major role in the country’s bustling economy. To safeguard its branches, the bank needed both indoor and outdoor surveillance – but the cameras had to be installed inside the bank to prevent vandalism, making it imperative for the system to clearly capture images in extreme lighting conditions.

Solution
The Pelco Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) cameras were the clear-cut winner for this challenging installation. WDR cameras can see both light and dark objects in the same scene, making the camera perfect for the bright glare and harsh shadows of the bank’s lobbies. Branches installed more than 475 Pelco cameras along with an array of Pelco monitors, mounts and enclosures during the upgrade’s first phase.

Result
With WDR technology, each pixel acts like an independent camera, adjusting focus and exposure settings for that specific pixel. Whereas the bank’s security professionals used to only get silhouettes in those extreme lighting conditions, now clear and distinct images are displayed.
