“We’re trying to show the schools that they can have this level of performance, even on a school budget. And it’s easy to recommend a Pelco solution, because the products and the company always deliver.”
– Miguel Sanchez, Assistant Director of Technology, Crowley Independent School District
Mission
Located on the southern edge of Fort Worth, Texas, Crowley Independent School District is one of the fastest growing districts in a fast-growing metroplex. With nearly 14,000 students and 1,000 new students each year, the district is dealing with the demands of such growth. Though it was installed just a few years before, the district’s existing video security system was no longer meeting the needs with its black and white cameras and VCRs recording at three to five frames per second. And many of the cameras had been exposed and easily tampered with, rendering them useless.
Solution
This time, the district wanted a system that would not only meet its needs, but be able to grow and adapt as those needs evolve. Pelco was the only manufacturer that could meet the district’s request for 30 frames per second, Sanchez said. The district preferred a combination of analog cameras and digital recording, while remaining within budget.
Result
The Pelco solution included 354 cameras (ICS090 and ICS110 Series Camclosures and Spectra Mini domes) between the two high schools and other district facilities. Everything is recorded on 25 DVR5100s, and the entire install – running new cable, placing cameras, removing old equipment – took just 90 days.
