Issue
The Energy Policy Act of 2005 changes the effective dates of DST in the United States, Canada, and selected other locations. Beginning in March 2007, DST in affected geographical regions will begin three weeks earlier (2:00 A.M. on the second Sunday in March) and will end one week later (2:00 A.M. on the first Sunday in November) than in previous years.
The DX7000 uses Windows 98 facilities for Daylight Saving Time control. Because Microsoft is no longer providing updates for the Windows 98 OS, there is no method to change the DST rules in the DX7000. Therefore, users must manually adjust the local time to be compliant with the new DST schedule.
Resolution
Users in regions affected by the new DST schedule must re-set the Time Zone on their DX7000 to a non-DST Time Zone (Pelco recommends setting the Time Zone to Greenwich Mean Time) and then verify that the Time & Date the correct local time and date. Subsequently, users will need to adjust the system time manually in spring and fall to comply with the new DST schedule.
Note: Changing the DX7000 Time Zone to GMT will make searches for video at this time zone change unique. The search process will be similar to searching through the “extra hour” of video normally created on the DX7000 at each year’s “Fall-back” change from DST to Standard Time; however the length of “extra video” may be longer than one hour, depending on the user’s Time Zone offset from GMT.
