San Manuel Casino Chooses Pelco to Create Largest Distributed IP Video
System in Gaming Industry
Clovis, CA – Southern California-based San Manuel Indian Bingo and Casino has
chosen Endura™, the powerful distributed network-based video security system by
Pelco, as the focal point of their surveillance security and over 3,000-camera
system requirements.
In the forefront of San Manuel’s decision-making process was achieving the best
picture quality and reliability for surveillance of their operations with a
high-quality video security system. "What we were looking for was an extremely
reliable, flexible video system that would utilize our IT infrastructure to its
fullest – with expandability and adaptability to evolve as needed," said Tom
Naoum, San Manuel Surveillance Assistant Director. In addition, the output of
high-quality images was an overriding factor in making their decision to go
with Endura. "And Pelco Endura has delivered on all counts."
Scott Bartlett, with integrator Southwest Surveillance Systems of Las Vegas,
said that working with Pelco on putting together this system within the
timeframe required by San Manuel went very well. "For such a large system,
Endura was extremely quick and easy to install. Working with Pelco, knowing I
could rely on everyone’s high level of customer service there, was significant
in making my job easier. This is the largest system of this kind that I’m aware
of – I just knew it would work out well and it did."
Craig Dahlman, Pelco Senior Product Manager, said, "There’s nothing like
helping to create the largest distributed IP-based video system in the gaming
industry. And with the convergence of IT and physical security across industry
lines, Pelco is well positioned with Endura to head into the future of network
video security in gaming as well as many other markets such as education,
healthcare, airports, and government infrastructure."
After an enormously successful beginning in the mid-1980s as a high-stakes
bingo operation, San Manuel expanded to include a 100,000 square foot casino.
In an effort to secure its position as one of the leading entertainment
destinations in Southern California, the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians
tribe embarked on an amenity enhancement project in 2003 to provide more
gaming, which opened in January 2005. Located in the foothills of the San
Bernardino Mountain region, just north of the city of Highland, San Manuel
currently employs over 2,500 people.
